Glasgow City Foundation Head of Operations Carol Anne Stewart (CAS) is looking forward to 2022 to continue to grow our community and academy reach.

The Covid-19 pandemic has had it’s challenges and it something Stewart makes no secret.

“There is no getting away from the fact that the last 20 months, never mind the last year, have been very difficult for everyone at Glasgow City Foundation. I am so proud of what has been achieved on and off the park despite unprecedented challenges. Having said that I can’t wait for the opportunities that await in 2022. “

Glasgow City Foundation was established by Glasgow City FC in 2015 as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO).

The Foundation is a distinct legal entity separate from – but closely associated – with the Club. All funds raised by the Foundation are kept within the Foundation.

With over 150 players from the mini kickers sessions up to U19s, CAS is delighted to be working with the foundation full-time.

“It is testament to the ambitions of the Foundation that the Board were able to provide me with a full-time position. It is a dream come true to be employed doing something I have dedicated a good proportion of my spare time to for the last 6 years.”

In 2022 the foundation will continue to offer pathways for national performance and also community football for all girls, as well as additional support.

“In 2022, we will be in a fantastic position to offer football to more girls than ever before, and Sarah Crilly is relishing the prospect of expanding our age groups to younger girls. In addition, along with the Trustees, I am very aware of how tough things have been for our young players and coaches. This is why I am making it a priority for the Foundation to deliver Wellbeing Support for everyone (including parents) associated to Glasgow City Foundation in 2022….. more to come on this soon.”

As part of the community work the club delivers – Clare Shine has already been out at schools with our tie in with Commsworld. CAS is delighted to have a player with so many footballing and life experiences on board.

“We also have Clare Shine delivering our Commsworld Role Modelling sessions in schools in Glasgow and beyond, where she shares her experiences as a full time professional footballer. (If you would like Clare to come and visit your school then please let me know.”

Stewart overall “can’t wait to get started” with the year ahead with her team of staff to continue to deliver and grow the foundation.
